PPC is an innovative advertising system that allows even the smallest of businesses to announce themselves at a much lower cost than by traditional means. You can see an example at The Riviera Woman, on the right-hand side of their page below the main skyscraper advert. It works as follows
There are two components to the PPC system; the hosting website and the advertiser. The host (in the example above that's The Riviera Woman) displays the PPC widget on their page and invites their members to take up PPC advertising through The Business Card Club. The advertiser selects a host on which to advertise and buys a batch of prepaid clicks. The revenue goes half to the host and half to The Business Card Club. When the host page refreshes, the widget calls for and displays an advert at random from those registered for that host. When a visitor clicks on the advert the click count is decreased by one and the visitor is taken to the advertiser's website, unless there isn't one in which case they go to the card page at The Business Card Club instead.
The only cost is for prepaid clicks costing 50 US cents each; these are sold in batches of 40. Both the host and the advertiser must have cards already in our system.
The incentive for websites to host the PPC widget is that each time an advertiser buys a batch of prepaid clicks the host will receive $10. This is not a huge sum but most of the advertisers are likely to be people and companies that would not otherwise consider advertising on that host site.
